Post-Apocalyptic Nightmare as Reactors in Japan Fail
Death toll so far, likely in tens of thousands (very sad indeed)
Containment vessels will fail if cooling cannot be indefinitely continued. Unlike Chernobyl that was an immediate level 7 nuclear hazard, Japan has higher-quality nuclear vessels/chambers that hold the nuclear rods and fuel together in a safer package. Below is a map of the affected Chernobyl disaster 'Zone of death'.
These seem to be failing, according to reuters and other news organizations.
In Chernobyl, the nuclear explosion was so great and the hazard so high, you could literally "see" the super-charged plasma particles of gases and energy beaming out from the plant. (Survivors said it glowed 'blue' or 'purple'). Should these reactors catch fire and burn and let loose raw fuel and rods, all hell will break lose.
Should this happen, not only should you leave Tokyo, but get out of SE Japan completely for the next 150,000 years!!
Now compare this map to the one for Japan:
I'm no nuclear expert, but if the level of radiation is now higher than any one can live for reactor 2. Which means you either send in robots or people in heavily insulated suits.
