US Virgin Islands

A few thoughts as I post this from my hotel room, at the Mariott (Frenchman's reef) US VI:

* Very expensive out here
* The sun is F****** hot (burnt after 1 day of beach)
* The people are very friendly and happy to see you
* They drive on the wrong side of the road (left side)
* Nothing rusts out here. I seen 20+ year old cars with faded paint, that's it
* Walking on the roads is tantamount to suicide: There's nowhere for pedestrians to walk. If you're not careful you could end up as roadkill, as I saw with many of the little Geckos that were dead on the road here
* People drive like maniacs. Yes, the speed limit is 20mph on the roads. But there isn't anyone out there to ENFORCE it. Instead, people drive flat-out up the very steep hills and blind corners. Being a passenger in a pickup truck taxi is terrifying. You have to wonder how many people have accidents out here.

Will post pics once I get back next weekend. Internet is super-expensive (18$ US per day). I've only purchased 1 day, and that was to get a presentation that I forgot to copy to my laptop.
