Message in a bottle

Back in the mid-1980's I was with a friend of mine at his parent's cottage in the Grand Beach area of Manitoba. I discovered a bottle with a message in it. I have kept this note since I found it in the mid-1980's and have always wondered who wrote it. Could it be true? How was it possible that a note ended up on the shores of lake Winnipeg? No, I don't believe this is possible since that lake is completely land-locked. (Although it technically IS possible to wade your way through tiny rivers to make it to the Hudson Bay, I don't see this possible with a simple bottle). Read the note below. Recognize it?
