Moving - Hell or Heaven?
Packing your belongings and getting stuff from point A to point B is not as simple as you might think. People who can move effortlessly are logistical experts. I am not one of those people. Truthfully, my idea of an easy move would involve loading your belongings into a huge garbage bin, walking away, and buying new stuff for your residence. Wouldn't that be easy? Digging through papers I haven't looked at in ten years, I realized lots of the stuff I was hanging onto was just... garbage.
Putting stuff for sale on Kijiji only gets so many results. To really get rid of stuff you have to give it away for free. I once posted an ad for a "FREE Pentium 4 motherboard with processor" on Kijij. I got approximately 40 e-mails from strangers clamoring over a piece of obsolete hardware that was worth, maybe, $40.
I went to the local U-Haul outlet and inquired at how much boxes cost. They've gone up quite a bit since my last major move. 50 boxes cost about 75.00 plus tax. Seriously. I decided it would be cheaper to get them for free from various businesses and by scouring the local want ads online. I managed to get three wardrobe boxes for free and dozens of boxes from various stores and grocery chains. I still have quite a bit of boxes to gather.
If you have any tips on moving be sure to leave feedback. I'd be really interested in hearing what you have to say.
