Skateboarders Everywhere !

Yes! The old mann above is me, and I ran into another electric-skateboarder today during my noon rush around the downtown core in Calgary. I'm on the other guy's skateboard - I think it was a "MeeGoo" or something like that. It had dual hub motors and a real tiny remote. Although I jacked it up to fast mode, it was woefully slow compared to my rocket boosted board. I always wear a helmet, knee pads, and wrist guards when riding. I'm wearing a jacket in 30C heat because if I fall off the board, I don't have elbow pads on and I'll use my jacket to take the fall.

I don't know why, but I love this mug (from a customer's desk).

I can't remember his name, but this sharply dressed young dude was wearing no protection- NOTHING to guard against falling. I strongly urged him to at least wear a helmet, he said he would look for one. He didn't have the board long, as evidence by the excellent condition of it. The grip tape on his board was perfect - even better than my shitty GRIZZY tape. (I'll likely buy the boosted official one this summer). Or I might get a picture of my cat and put it on the board. I don't know.

I shredded a belt finally, and the other belt is starting to wear thin... I never had a belt actually fly off the board before... one moment I had dual power, the next, the right wheel was free-wheeling and my power and braking went to shit. A quick stop and belt change, and I was off!

I do have another helmet, but it was far, far to hot to wear: a full face mask helmet that's 100% black.

And after meeting him I spoke to a true skateboarder who had a conventional skateboard, he was ripping down the sidewalk like crazy. I asked him why he never wore a helmet and all he said was "Well, I've been riding skateboards all my life, I know I could die, but I'm ok with that".

Unbelievable!
