Indestructable Watch

And here it is: Casio G-Shock (2018) model GA-700C bought from Amazon Canada for $95 CDN. Why I bought this watch instead of a fancy smart watch has two major reasons:

1. When I bought a smartwatch last year (Martian) it was more annoying than helpful. My wrist would vibrate constantly from emails and phone calls. I eventually turned the notifications off and one day my wrist nailed a wall & the face trim came off. I tried to glue it but it never stuck.

2. I thought it would be cool to have a watch that won't bug me with notifications. With this watch, it's the inverse smart watch: Tough, almost indestructable. The G-shock watches are made to take a drop from 30 feet on hard concrete. They are waterproof to 600 feet and keep fairly accurate time. You can get quite a number of different G Shock watches:

And that is just one model variety. You can get really expensive Mudman G Shocks which have altimeters, temperature, compass, and atomic clock sync with bluetooth. They range from $99 to $3,000 USD, give or take.

My watch has none of that. It merely has a timer, countdown timer, hourly chime, light, and digitally-synchronized time to the analog hands. The watch is magnetic resistant and also comes with a 2 year warranty. The battery is good for 5 years, give or take.

I'll likely buy a square one in the next few months just to mix it up. I love non-smart technology. I still have an old 2003 era watch which is still running on the 10-year battery. Most of my watches die from collision with hard objects like walls and doors. This should help alleviate that problem.
