A fresh start
Above and below: pictures of my old work laptop, adorned with my own stickers that I bought off Amazon. As you can see, it quickly spun out of control.
I leave work with no regrets; I wish my old colleagues well and start my new job tomorrow. I believe this is the best choice for my career and future potential. I was literally going nowhere in my last job.
I am not going to miss Service Now (SNOW) system for IT work. What a complete piece of fucking garbage this software is. It pales in ease of user compared to another product such as IT Glue. I cannot believe my old company is going to continue to use this vastly inefficient software. But they really have no choice, since the parent company owns everything.
I feel extremely fortunate to have a job; many oil and gas companies are laying off staff as I type this blog entry. The problem with Alberta is market access; we need pipelines in order to get the product out to sell. Eventually, oil and gas will diminish and this resource-dependent province will need to innovate and change into new areas.
I could easily see Alberta leading Canada for commercial pot production. We already have the largest number of stores that sell legal pot in all of Canada. Although derided by some Albertans, the NDP have done a decent job of getting it legalized in a short period of time. The next two elections are going to be nasty. The NDP will likely lose to Jason Kenny, a fat dimwit big C conservative who's previous job was polishing and licking the boots of Stephen Harper.
Yeah, fuck that guy.
