I saw a mother fucker
I Saw a MOTHERFUCKER riding a goddamn BOOSTED BOARD the other day while getting off the train. And oh, it was the extra special fast model - even quicker than my old boosted board v2 (which I sold last August).
And you know, I was thinking to myself about all the crazy risks I took when riding that fucking thing. Once, I was determined to out race a cyclist who was on the road - and I was on the sidewalk. Unfortunately the sidewalk ended and the street had a 2 inch gap. I decided to go for it and I literally wobbled and almost but I held it together.
I remember blissfully blasting down 11th avenue one sunny afternoon, going a TINY bit too fast, missed the sidewalk entrance and bounced into a telephone pole. The pole made it out pretty good.
But probably my best wipeout ever was (other than my broken leg) when I owned a real longboard (not powered) and decided to try blasting down the underpass... I held it together until I speed wobbled off & ground out my left elbow. I had to get a fucking tetanus shot.
The irony? I was on my way to buy pads and knee guards. Yeah, goddamn idiot.
I'm grateful I wa able to recover quickly from my injury last year. And I'm trying to gain new strenght with this 5-day a week workout routine. So far it has been going well. I'm following David Goggin's method for exercise: Moderately work out, but don't workout to muscle failure. You want a steady, moderate amount of effort - just below exhaustion and above boredom. It is still difficult at times, but rewarding.
