Did You Know
That there is no amount of Cannabis that you can smoke, eat, or drink that will help you forget about painful memories. In the quiet silence, as my foot crosses the doorway of our apartment, I hear CNN in the background. I look into the living room, and the cat is lying on the couch near Theresa's pillow. I scented it with her perfume the other day. Poor little guy.
I leave the TV on for the cat, it's pretty lonely for him now that his mom is gone. During the daytime he would literally cling to her all day, and as soon as I got home she would say "Thank God! Now he can be YOUR kitty until you go to bed!". He'd come next to me in the computer room, I'd use the laser gadget, and he'd bounce off the walls so loud it would scare Theresa. "Jesus kitty! What the hell's got into you?". Cat was nuts.
During the past few months, Theresa spent more time watching sports than even dancing or music. Even the Women's Olympics took back stage to some of the NFL, Rugby, and Tennis she would watch.

Did you know, when a woman clasps her necklace like this, it means she adores whoever she is looking at. Theresa is smiling genuinely: The lines at her eyes, she really loved kitty. (Kitty is his actual name. She named all our 3 cats that way.).
Kitty always had to be close to her. When in the bathroom, he'd jump on her lap and he'd stay there for 10 minutes while she petted him. Jesus. That cat was spoiled. But hey, when you're stuck at home all day, can't work, what else can you do? She told me "Without kitty I wouldn't have been around. He is my life line, my love." It was a very deep love.
I found this note the other day, on the inside of an old phone book. Theresa had wrote this back when her mother had died. That's why she said you'll never know. And now I understand the meaning of the note. When something is taken from you - that is so precious to you - you cannot understand until it happens to you. And I hope for anyone reading this it never does.
