Hotel Horrors

Imagine coming home from a 12 day trip thinking it was all fine and great. But fast forward 10 days, you start getting itchy rashes and bumps. So you head to the doctor. It's bug bites. I feared bed bugs, and I called a pest company immediately.

Before he arrived, I went out and put my box spring, mattress, into a plastic liner. I cleaned the frame with pine sol. I vacuumed under the bed and cleaned the registers.

The exterminator confirmed bed bugs in the box frame. He even pointed one out to me. I cringed. He said he could spray on Saturday. So I wrapped up everything I could in plastic, then left for a hotel once he bombed my apartment with god knows what chemicals.

I came back 6 hours later to open the windows and run the fans. It was very acrid. I live with a paranoid fear of being bitten by bugs while I sleep. I paid a man $60 to throw my mattress out to the dump.

My apartment was clean. At the hotel, I had to move the mattress and box spring to get my cat from under it. He was wedged against the wall. I had also left my bag on the floor, another mistake.

If there was one good thing about it, if you can believe it, was I had to throw out or give away alot of things I never used any more: Dumped 3 bags of old linens and blankets from Marion. Electric fireplace.Noisy humidifier. Other crap.

I kept a few of Theresa's shirts and put the rest in bags for the women's shelter of Calgary.

I've spent about $800 of my own money, not including the cost of the bed I used to have. It's hard to get legal action against a hotel when you don't have proof. I'll be in contact with them this week.

Kitty wasn't too happy about moving to and from the hotel. We have to repeat this in 14 days.

What a wonderful fucking time 2020 has been so far.
