RIP Piece of Garbage Thinkpad T490

It's gone. The USB-C power connector broke and I attempted to de-solder it. But when I tried to remove the thin plastic connectors to the motherboard, they broke apart. Now I was faced with hot-gluing electrical wires to the motherboard, and risking a fire. So, $660 out the window after a mere 6 months of use. What a piece of GARBAGE engineering if I ever saw one.

Who in their right mind would select the tiny USB-C port to charge a battery that draws up to 3.3 amps at 5vdc? And they wonder why it takes several  hours to charge compared to earlier models? Just lunacy to think technology is so advanced and yet so fragile, easy to break, and unrepairable. God damn Lenovo for making such a piece of garbage technology.

And now on Tuesday, I'll be bringing this piece of crap useless motherboard to work to have it e-recycled. Good riddance. I still use a Thinkpad for work, and thankfully the charging pad hasn't broken apart yet. The quality of these devices are just dreadful.

I'm thoroughly done with Thinkpads. Dell laptops at least have a better charging port compared to the Lenovo equivalents. They are far more expensive, however. My love affair with this useless gadget ended months ago once I discovered I had to push down on the power connector to even get the useless piece of shit to charge once again.

It finally gave up the ghost by refusing to charge no matter what angle I used.

And with that, fuck it. I'm done with that piece of junk.

And like many other useless things and people that were in my life - good riddance.

Chris
