And Suddenly I Remembered
Years ago I was chatting with Marion over a coffee. I asked her how she was doing today. At 60+ years old, her back was ruined due to multiple back surgeries. "If the Lord spares us another day" she said ominously.
I laughed. She was right.
Theresa's mother used to be a nurse, then a stay-at-home caregiver for many elderly Nova Scotians who lived with her. It was hard work and she never went on a vacation.
She loved Tim Hortons coffee, usually an 'Extra Large' double-double. In Canadian-speak, this is two cream and two sugar. Back then I used to take sugar in my coffee. Now I cheat with 3rd party creamers and flavored creamers. But anyway, I digress.
You never know how quickly time passes you by until you actually look back and remember.
Many memories.
I held up my coffee cup and took a swig, walking out the door to get cigarettes from the Indian store in Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia.
"Take care dear" Marion said as she handed me the money. "Thanks Marion, appreciate it." I said with total sincerity.
I respected her. She respected me. It was a good memory.
Marion past away in March 2012 from a sudden heart attack. My wife would pass away on September 9, 2019.
It's all such a blur now.
I move forward.
