Summer Approaches

Years ago, I remember a conversation I had with my wife, Theresa. "When people lie, you'll know easily." By God, she was good at picking apart people's lies. I never lied to her.

Back when I lived in Nova Scotia, life was far different than it is now. A bit more hectic, I had to juggle groceries for 2 households, including laundry and helping my wife clean her mother's apartment.

But now, things have quieted down significantly. I dumped all the useless assholes out of my life and am better for it. People used to use me for money or attention. No more.

It's one thing to be loyal, but another to be loyal to people who continually crap all over you. No more.

I sit alone and content with the knowledge I am a good person.

People think cars, money, or other items will make you happy. No, it will not. Gone are the days when loyalty was rewarded. Instead, we live in a society where lunging for power is the norm, and those who don't seek power are excluded.

I'm better for it.

Chris
