Cars to buy and Cars to avoid
And here is the fall edition of my To Buy and To Avoid list. I hope you enjoy the list and don't hesitate to contact me if you think I am wrong or right on the money. They are sorted in no particular order and contain a huge assorted list of vehicles.
Cars to Buy
Honda Fit, Honda Civic, Honda Accord, Toyota Yaris, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Camry, Subaru Impreza, Subaru Legacy, Nissan Versa, Nissan Altima, Hyundai Sonata, Chevrolet Malibu, Mazda3, MazdaSpeed3, Mazda 6, BMW 1-series, and Ford Focus.
Japanese-made cars remain strong buys. They are much more reliable, better-built, efficient, safe, and have a higher residual value than domestic or South Korean cars. The only SK car I can suggest is the Sonata. While the Ford Focus is a stale brand, the car has almost become perfected and is a good buy. The Chevy Malibu is brand new and improved over last year's model. Look for a new Mazda 3 next year.
Cars to Avoid
Kia Rio, Kia Optima, Kia Magentis, Kia Borrego, Kia Amante, Hyundai Accent, Hyundai Elentra, Hyundai Santa Fe, Hyundai Genesis, Suzuki Forenza, Suzuki Reno, Suzuki SX4, Suzuki Swift, Chevy Cobalt, Chevy Aveo, Pontiac Wave, Pontiac G5, Dodge Caliber, Dodge Avenger, and Dodge Journey.
South Korean cars are getting better each year but I cannot suggest anyone buy them unless you are ready to accept what is out there. Forget KIA, the cars out there right now are crap, you are better off buying a used Honda or Toyota rather than a KIA. The Borrego came out this year, same as the touted Hyundai Genesis. Does Hyundai really think it can compete with a BMW or Lexus? People do not buy brands based on money alone people. Sure, they tout the Genesis as faster than a Porsche boxster. But which car would you rather be seen in, honestly? I cringe when I see a Kia Amante. Anyone who thinks this is a great car should really get their blind man's cane.
