Idiots
About 30+ cm of snow came down during Friday night and Saturday. Chaos on the roads as people drove, expecting a road surface, got into accidents as they discovered it was a road of hard ice and snow. I saw many cars spun out into the median, colliding with other cars or going into the ditch.
It was time to test out the Subaru's all wheel drive. It was hard to find an unplowed parking lot, but I found one. It was full of deep snow, over a foot on average. I got the Subaru stuck a few times and managed to get out after discovering reverse was the best choice when in this deep snow. Even then, I had problems and had to get out and move the snow out from under the wheels.
The car was otherwise unstoppable on the roads and parking lots. While neighbors were out trying to dig their cars out, I just cleaned the snow off and pulled out with ease. Climbing hills? Too easy. At one point someone offered to help push me out of a parking spot. I declined and told him no need. The car pulled out like it had no snow at all. Rooster tails of snow flying through the air from all four wheels. And that is without using winter snow tires!
Too many people driving like idiots on the roads, passing, going too fast for the road conditions. I was well below the speed limit, I may have AWD but I still need to stop!
