Life Update 2.0: Snow, Hospitals, and the Atari 2600
My wife was recently admitted to the hospital for double pneumonia. She's getting good treatment at a local hospital and will hopefully only be in a few days. You really take your health for granted when it's easy to wake up and do your everyday tasks...except when one day you can't anymore.
We're getting older now. 20 years ago when I was 19, man, life was a rocket ride. I was just out of highschool and attending South Winnipeg Technical Center's Industrial Electricity course. After a week, I decided the Industrial Electronics course was more my style. It was more interesting, to say the least. That's when I met one of my best friends, John, who still lives in Winnipeg.
Back then we'd head out to the Circle K gas station at lunch time and get two hot dogs and a drink for $1.99. How's that for cheap?
Today we got a huge dumping of snow. I wasn't on the roads much - I was at the hospital and watched it all fall down from the hospital room. Driving later on was very dangerous. The car was excellent, as usual. I couldn't help myself and do some drifting in an abandoned parking lot. When I came back to my senses I went home.
During one time when i went to the garbage bin to drop a bag off, I noticed a big square box in the bin. It was colorful. I pushed aside the other bags and gasped. It was an ORIGINAL Atari 2600 box!
Could it be? Could it? I was curious. I grabbed the box and quickly opened it up. There was an Atari 2600 in the box, complete with games and EVERYTHING - even manuals!
Good God, life is sweet.
