The Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 Edition was introduced in 2006, and refers to the victory by Stirling Moss and his co-driver Denis Jenkinson in a Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR with the starting # of 722. The 722 indicates a starting race time of 7:22 am in the 1955 Mille Miglia race).

 

The engine is rated at an astounding 641 hp (478kW) @ 6500 rpm and 820 N'm (605 foot-pounds) of torque.  With a top speed of 209 mph, the suspension was made a bit stiffer and a slightly lower ride height was made to improve the cars handling.

 

Massive front brakes (15.4 inch) and modified front air dam were placed on the car. As with any elite car, new headlights and tail lights were used. The road performance on this car is astonishing: 0-60 times clocking in at 3.6 seconds and 124 mph in about 10.2 seconds. The car can reach 186 MPH in 21.4 seconds - or, about as quick as a Smart Car can go to 0-60!

Your wife will hate you but your friends will love it. In 2009 Mercedes-Benz announced the Stirling Moss Edition which features a speedster styling and no windscreen or roof. The car has a supercharged V8 that is rated for 641 hp and a top speed of 217 mph. It's 0-100 km/hr speed is under 3.5 seconds. The car is 440 pounds lighter than the regular model and can only be purchased by EXISTING SLR owners. The cost? Only $1.5 Million dollars US. Astounding.
