Rise of the Anti-Hero
If you haven't seen the movie, I suggest you do -- although small children and young folks shouldn't watch this film. Tony Montana, a true-to-life bad ass from Cuba, wants to make something from himself. Not satisfied by working as a dish pig in a dirty Cuban restaurant, he begins his quest as a drug lord in Miami by killing a local communist gangster who escaped from Cuba.
He's the anti-hero: Someone who doesn't take any shit from anyone, not afraid to speak his mind. You don't like it? Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck you! (in Tony's voice). Al Pacino is a real gem in this movie. I can see why real life criminals have posters on their walls of Tony Montana. He's just a likable psychopath. Unlike Jeffrey Dahlmer, who would likely drug you and rape you and kill you -- Tony Montana will only kill you if you fuck him. That's it. And who can't respect that? Other than his dealing of the highly addictive drug Cocaine, this guy isn't so bad after all. And then I discovered someone had made a game -- Scarface: The World is Yours. They got a voice actor who so closely matched Al Pacino to play him, it's scary how close it is to the real Tony. My favorite scene from the initial opening of the movie is when Tony and his friend are chained up in the bathroom with the crazy Columbians. They're threatening to chop Tony to pieces with a chainsaw they used to dismember (and kill) his colleague. And when the Columbian gangster threatens to kill Tony Montana.... what does he do? He spits on the guy and says "Fuuuuuuuuuuuuck You!". Ahhhhh classic shit. Unfortunately in the movie it descents rather quickly into a drug-induced rage.... Tony gets consumed by his own rage, and begins killing everything close to him. A sad end, but hey, I guess you get what you pay for when you are prepared to go balls out on a drug empire.
