Ice Breaker

The giant machine is used each winter to break up ice on the province's Red River. On Monday, it was put to work near Netley Creek. 

The aim is to break up the ice to reduce the risk of ice jams and flooding this spring. People are asked to stay away from the equipment and watch for warnings signs about dangerous ice. Ice fishers are also advised to keep an eye out for removal notices.
