Mazda 3 Oil Change - Easy

Changing the oil is super easy if you have the right equipment:

Ramps for your car
Wrench for oil pan bolt
old shirts and stuff for errant oil
Funnel
Oil filter
Oil
Ratchet & 10mm socket & extender

1. Drive car up ramp
2. Set emergency brake and chocks
3. Remove oil filler cap

Under the car, you must remove the underbelly plastic shroud. This is 10mm bolts and there are about 8 of them. Very annoying, but it protects your engine from dirt and debris & also speeds up warming in the winter time.

4. Remove old oil filter, allow oil to drain
5. Replace oil filter, make sure you oil up the gasket. Also, adding oil to the filter is helpful
6. Remove oil pan bolt, let oil drain for 5-10 mins
7. Replace oil pan bolt & use new washer
8. Add 4.4L of oil to car
9. Start engine, rev, shut down, wait a few minutes, check oil.

Take old oil to Canadian tire - they accept old oil and filters for free.

Cost to change oil: $ 27.00

Cost at Canadian tire: $65 ( 0W20 synthetic)

Saved a lot of money and peace of mind doing it myself.
