Cannabis to be Legal in Washington D.C.
If you'd have asked me ten years ago if the USA had started to legalize Cannabis, I wouldn't have believed it. Just today, Washington D.C. announced it may soon legalize all Cannabis for personal use. This is good; too many people have been using dangerous alternatives such as K2 Spice or some other china-produced chemical "weed".
Synthetic
marijuana refers to a mixture of herbs, incense, and other leafy
materials that are sprayed with a chemical that mimics the effects of
THC, the active ingredient in marijuana. Many people believe "Spice" to
be a safe and non-toxic substitute for marijuana. However, Spice can be
more dangerous than marijuana because its chemicals are three to five
times more potent than the THC found in marijuana.
Moreover, a number of medical reports contain stern warnings about the substance. What many people don't know about "Spice" is that the side effects can be very bad, even resulting in death.

Is Spice Legal?
Often
sold under the brand name of K2 or Spice, synthetic marijuana used to
be easily purchased from gas stations, convenience stores, smoke shops,
or online brokers. As of 2010, several states including Illinois, Ohio,
California, New York, Pennsyvania, Kansas, Georgia, Alabama, Missouri,
Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas have passed statewide bans on
synthetic cannabinoids.
in 2012 President Obama signed the Synthetic Drug Abuse Prevention Act, which prohibited those substances at the federal level.
However, because these laws prohibit specific compounds, manufacturers have responded by altering the composition of their product to evade the prohibitions.

From Reddit:
I
had a friend back in the summer of 2009 who was abusing JWH-018
regularly. I'll give you some background on him irst, he dropped out of
high school 2 weeks into freshman year, he had no job, no ambition, just
drugs. He also had insomnia for years before he started vaping JWH.
Anyways, this guy was blowing through puddles of JWH every day from the moment he woke up until he went to sleep. He was high literally 24/7. but it didn't seem like a good high from the outside. He appeared to be 'robotic' and on autopilot when I would see him. Like he wouldn't really think about doing things, he'd just do them. Also he was robotic in his mannerisms, emotions seemed blunted and his speech would seem 'hollow'. Anyways he blew puddles for about a year. Before JWH he had some cryptic writting/lettering on the walls of his bathroom. After JWH he had psychotic breakdowns where he was talking to himself and threw a brick through his kitchen window. He was eventually diagnosed with schizophrenia; I'm pretty sure JWH exacerbated his symptoms.Eventually he got addicted and OD'd on Oxy, but that's a different story for a different day.

I started smoking spice occasionally when I was 16. Much too young to experiment with the shit, I know, I had some bad influences around me. It was usually just a chill body high, but one time I got my hands on something much stronger, "Space" it was called. Two decent hits of it out of a regular bowl, and I was in a completely different world (maybe that's why it was called "Space"). Total ego death, insane hallucinations, walls and opening spaces blackening out to complete nothingness, didn't know who anyone around me was, I literally thought I had gone insane. I didn't even know I had smoked anything at this point, started to think this was how it always was. Probably was the most terrifying thing to ever happen to me. Anyways, after about 3 hours of this I eventually passed out on my bathroom floor and then proceeded to puke multiple times. The negative effects had just begun, though. Soon after this I developed extreme depersonalization/ derealization. I strongly believe it happened from my bad spice trip. I wouldn't even smoke weed for 2 years after the incident because I was so tweaked out. Now even the smell of any spice can trigger a mini panic attack for me. Eventually, the dp/dr started to get less intense and I learned how to deal with it, but spice is essentially what drove me in to a 2 year long depression and ruined drugs for me.

Spice
have me the single worst drug experience of my life. I had a full-on
ego death, thought I had died and that existence was just a never ending
cycle of pain and torment. My entire field of vision was engulfed by a
incredibly bright static, and it felt like I was falling forever into a
pit of despair and agony. It was as if I was the universe experiencing
it's own heat death. Turns out the pain was because I was having a
seizure on the asphalt street. I had to be hospitalized and spent the
night at the hospital. I had anxiety issues for a good 11 months after
because of it, but thankfully I'm over that now and I can enjoy things
like LSD, which is a love trip in comparison.
I made a throwaway to post about the whole ordeal, but it's been a year and a half so I don't really care anymore. Link
