4/20 Day
One day, Canadians will look back at the laughable laws in place against weed the Harper government has placed onto the masses. Using unfounded statements of fear, Harper is convinced "bad things will happen" if pot is legalized.
Lets rewind that statement tiny bit. In 2002, it was found that 600,000 Canadians were physically dependent on alcohol. Approximately 2,000 people die each year as a result of alcoholic liver disease. Many of those individuals who abuse alcohol also use illegal drugs on top of this.
No one has died from using pot. You can't overdose on pot. It's not physically possible to smoke or ingest that much weed. The neoCONs of the Harper empire believe that pot is evil. People who use pot are irresponsible drug addicts. They believe pot has no medicinal value. It is so fucked up in Canada that nobody is allowed to grow it, even for legitimate medical reasons. Instead, you have to buy crappy, expensive weed via mail order using a select number of "hand picked" commercial growers. Quite recently, the pot grown from one vendor was covered in spider mites and had to be recalled.
Lets face it - the war on drugs is not working. Cancelling funding to insite injection sites is not going to make the problem go away. Funneling hundreds of millions of dollars into wasteful policing and incarceration. Instead of arresting and putting innocent pot smokers in jail - why not concentrate on people who do others harm?
Hopefully, Canadians will have enough common sense to say ENOUGH and vote Harper out. This dinosaur has no concept of reality. He might as well exist in the 1930's movie Reefer Madness.
