Ditch the big banks. Go to a credit union.
Say you've had good credit and have paid off 2 loans in a very short amount of time. You make good money and ask your bank for a consolidation loan. They hem and haw and finally get back to you after many unanswered phone calls and e-mails. "Our finance dept can only give you half of what you are looking for".
Regardless I have savings and my debt to income ratio is pretty low. Wouldn't you feel insulted? I certainly did. And that's exactly why I dumped the Bank of Montreal for a credit union bank.
Although it's a pain in the ass to change all my banking information and bills, I feel in the long run this has to be done. It's not like I went out asking for a loan to buy a Nissan GT-R. Hardly.
But woe to the large banks who piss off a loyal customer. You have turned them into a hater, an incensed anti-big-bank ASSHOLE.
And I'm proud of it.
