June Car Month: Aggressive Drivers

Since moving back to Calgary a few years ago I've noticed a large jump in the aggressive drivers out there. One thing I notice, is that when people see themselves being passed by a Mazda3, they'll do anything to ensure they get off the line first.

To be honest, my car is fairly slow. I mean, sure, it could in theory reach 8 second 0-60 times, but with my new tires I'd be happy with 9 seconds. KIA's, VW's, Big ass trucks, you name it. All will speed down the road to pass or get ahead.

I never bother to give chase. It isn't worth it. If I really wanted to buy a faster car, I could - but why? The current car I have is perfect for what I need. I don't have to prove anything. There is no mid life crisis. Don't get me wrong, if I could, I'd get a Subaru WRX STi, Ford Focus ST, or Honda Civic Si Type R in a heartbeat.

But I don't. You have to be careful in today's economy. Jobs are not forever. Interest rates are going to go very high soon.

The worst thing to do would be to blow money on a newer car or faster one.

Keep what you have. When you're ready, yes, get a decent car to spoil yourself before you die.
