Greyhound Ending Service in October 2018
Back in the 1980's, I used to take these things OFTEN - like every 2 weekends, usually from Winnipeg, Manitoba to Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. By car, this trip would take about 50 minutes, and using the Greyhound bus, a little longer: 59 minutes due to the extra stop at the PLAP Greyhound and Winnipeg stations. A trip back then cost about $3.25 Canadian... but now, 30+ years later, this costs about $29 each way (fuck!).
During my youth I've seen many interesting things:
* Young couples making out
* Drunk people on the bus
* Tons of dozy old people
* Zero entertainment: You had to bring cards or portable games
* People fighting
* Wild children running through the isles
Who can also forget the killing of Tim McLean - the poor guy was asleep when he was viciously attacked and his head chopped off. I never see this, and I hope I never see pictures. I believe this may have contributed significantly to the companie's demise.-

To this day, when I smell the scent of diesel, it reminds me of the Winnipeg bus station. Its sad to see this service go. I haven't used it in 20 years, but I would like to have seen it continue. But nothing ever stays the same. Nothing.
