Thoughts on 2018 and 2019

Probably my crowning genius of 2018 - the Star Trek meme dump. While on a T-break in November, I decided to re-watch the Original Star Trek Series (Seasons 1-3) and write up crazy stories  like Captain Kirk being addicted to some strange sounding weed named "Captain's Kush". I don't even know if this exists in reality. Of course, the idea of Kirk being a Cannabis user is ridiculous. His ultra-sharp, commanding presence would never consume The Devil's Lettuce.

But rewind. Earlier this year I learned how fragile the human body is by breaking my leg on my legendary boosted board v2 d+. Goddamn, that thing was fast. It was like riding a mini-Tesla under your feet. But sadly, after accumulating 2,300 kilometers of ride distance and burning through 2 motors and dozens of belts, fate approached and I fell off the board one afternoon. I think the board went left/right, up/down, and suddenly stopped. It must have been a rock or a crack I never saw. Nonetheless, I Flew off that motherfucker like no one's business and bounced (literally) off my right tibia and fibia right under my right knee.

2 surgeries later, I was out of the hospital in 12 days. And then the real battle began - using dual crutches and trying to get around in a body accustomed to walking. I never realized how out of shape my upper body was. The first day I went home I almost passed out while using a walker from my car to the 2nd floor landing.

I'm not overweight, and wasn't back then. But it took 3.5 months of daily work before I could walk on my own again. Even before I managed that, I sold my skateboard to a younger guy from Edmonton. I don't think I could feel good about myself taking risks with it again. It's not worth it.


But recently, my wife has taken ill and was placed in ICU/CCU as of last friday for double pneumonia / corona virus. While slowly recovering and on a breathing machine, you take for granted your health of loved ones and yourself will be 'perfect'. Not so.

2019 Wishes:

* Get in better shape
* Learn a practical new hobby. I've given up on learning guitar for now
* Better health for loved ones
* Get out of debt

2019 Predictions:

* Trump will be impeached and the sex tapes will be revealed once and for all
* Pence will be President until 2020
* Opra Winfrey will be the 2020 winner
* Pot will be legalized in America and taken off the Schedule 1 list (finally!)
