Global Pandemic: COVID-19

The Johns-Hopkins COVID-19 global map is getting fucking scary: Italy is now completely locked down, a country of 60 million people. This is a DEFCON level 1 alert, people!

You cannot buy toilet paper in Calgary. Or baby wipes. Or alcohol hand sanitizer. People have panic-bought all the products. There is nothing.

I see a multi-stage process developing over the next few weeks:

1. Once COVID-19 breaches and invades Canada, panic will begin
2. All sports arenas and gatherings will be closed
3. People must be 3 feet apart. (Good luck enforcing that on the C-Train)
4. Endless handwashing
5. Panic-buy of staple items (medicines, soap, shampoo)
6. Hoarding of food and supplies

Businesses and people will go bankrupt. Even now, with the oil prices crashing and the Russians & Saudi Arabia pulling out their dicks and measuring up.... Alberta doesn't stand a chance.

The Western Canadian Select oil was already discounted. You'll see many O&G's go bankrupt.  Our budget was based on $58/bbl oil. We are now not even half that.

I pray for the elderly and frail. If Theresa was alive today, I would be in a complete endless worry about her. I know she would have a panic attack watching the news of countries being shut down, people dying, etc.

The way to beat this is to not panic. Do not give in to panic buying. I do not have any hope in Hell the Trump administration knows what the fuck they are doing, but I have a good trust in the Canadian healthcare system.

We just need more testing kits, medical supplies, and other essential items for our hard-working medical people.

And I hope they don't get infected either. Because between you and me? This could be really, really bad quickly.
