We are a week away from complete lockdown

Canada is completely fucked. Community spread is happening across Calgary, we have no idea how far this virus has gone. Our society will be in complete lockdown within a week, I predict. At the alarming progression of infections and hospitalizations, we are on the same route as Germany or France. Maybe even Italy.
I can see emergency hospitals setup in hotels and football fields. Already the province of Alberta has enacted the State of Emergency. They have shut down all bars and restaurants are not allowed to have more than half capacity. Going to one today would be very risky.
How are people to survive? I am lucky, I work in IT and can work remotely. But what about servers, food workers, and consultants? I don't even know if I will be employed for long anyway
Hopefully the government of Canada will pull through that massive 500B spending bill which is probably insufficient.
. I've stocked up on food to a ridiculous level now. I still don't know if I have enough food, so each day I go into the store and grab a can, pasta, or rice.
I now have a horde of food, weed, and liquor. I don't really have any concern for myself but I worry about my elderly mother. This virus has also put people who are healthy 20 and 30-year olds into the ICU.
But first, don't panic. If you're going out in public, wear a mask - at all times. Gloves if you can find them. My concern would be getting through this virus wave and then bringing the disease to my mother. Not happening.
Social distancing is going to be challenging to adapt to. A co-worker was close yesterday showing me some photos. Hopefully this will all pass in a few months, but I suspect this virus will be difficult to eradicate due to the ease of spreading. Especially when those who don't feel any different are actively spewing out virus particles.
I bought an N99 mask last year, after we had bad smoke in Alberta. I haven't worn it yet but will on my next outing.
My cat, named kitty, seems to enjoy having me home all the time.
Stay safe people!
