Backup your computer

Kitty, in his natural habitat, very close, under my desk, between my feet.

He's extremely attached and lovey, seeks attention and I've had him since November 2011.

I am thankful I have this sweet lovable cat. I am still working - although for how long - who knows?

Calgary has the worst unemployment in Canada and also the highest cases of COVID-19 in Canada besides Quebec and Ontario.

Being kind should be at the top of my list of things to do. Its hard to be kind when your heart has been compacted and chewed up last year when Theresa died.

I can't move, my plans on changing apartments is on hold. Signing a new lease would be ludicrous. My hopes for a better 2020 have been pretty much thrown out the window with this global pandemic.

Calgary during rushhour, there are no cars, no people.. just a ghost town.

My new computer is not perfect, it sometimes bluescreens. I think the problem is memory, not sure, too lazy to troubleshoot. It happens once a week, maybe twice. But today, it happened and I could not get it to boot.

Mad scramble to find my Windows PE boot recovery USB drive, I manually set the boot block with the fixboot command, restart, fingers crossed, it worked.

I work in IT, but yet have not setup a reliable backup plan for my computer, believe it or not. At work we have industrial servers that have disks and uplinks to cloud storage. At home I have maybe a dual-drive Synology NAS, and the new computer.

I purchased a backup software package for $40, and set it up. It came with lifetime upgrades, so why not? I am embarrassed it took an outage for me to act on this. To be honest, backups of my home pc were not on my top list of items to look at.

My Costco road bike should arrive at the end of this month. I'll drop by Canadian tire to get lights and stuff. Of course, I need a helmet, so add that to my list of items needed.
