Black Beauty - Northrock SCR1

SCR1, SC1, who the fuck knows. All I know is the bike is manufactured in China, has an aluminum frame, carbon fiber forks, and decent wheels. The handle bars are drop-down and very wide and large.

The bike weighs 33 pounds, give or take. Incredibly light. The fenders I purchased online will not fit on this bike. Oh well. Neither will the bell I bought too. Will buy one from Canadian Tire later.

It took me 2+ hours to tune the front and rear derailleurs. This bike uses middle-spec Shimano Sora cassette and it rides fairly well.

Tuning the front derailleur is a nightmare. I can not get it to where the chain will not slightly rub on some gear sets. It seems to be a gearing issue and the chain. Multiple people on red flag deals have reported the same problem.

The downtubes are unusually large and make mounting things like bike locks challenging Riding this bike on the road is scary, it is a very quick bike.

This is a ferrari of bikes compared to the large heavy mountain bikes I used to ride a long time ago. There is no grandiose illusion of quality. It's a half decent bike for $600. Most bikes that are using these components are on frames costing $1.5 - 2K.

It seems stupid to buy a bike lock, but I won't be leaving this bike outside anywhere. It'll be locked up at work in my office or at home in my apartment. I won't be taking it to grocery trips or areas where I need to leave it.

Too many drug addicts with portable electric angle grinders that can make quick work on my $50 kryptonite lock.

It's too bad Theresa isn't here to see it. I think she would like the bike.

I named it Black Beauty.
