Michael's 2002 Funeral on Video

Whoooo boy this was hard to watch. I have the 55 minute video of Theresa's brother's funeral. Unfortunately, it was recorded in low-quality VHS and does not have any close ups of Marion, Theresa, George, or myself.

You can see Marion in the purple, then Theresa, and George. I'm on the far right under the purple
arrow. It was a surreal moment to look back into time 18 years ago. She looked so alive and healthy - yet, extremely sad. In the video, you see me move between Aunt TC (Bernice) and Bernice's daughter-in-law (I can't remember her name). I did this for Theresa because she was very close to Bernice and also her mother. Later on I give her a tissue.

Her brother past away from cardiac arrest, triggered by a skin infection. Michael was over weight, and this did contribute to his death. I believe he weighed almost 500 pounds.

Sadly, the year before, he had reached out to Theresa and Marion, and started to visit again. Her speech is very eloquent and touching. Theresa mentions that when they always talked, She would end the conversation by saying "I love you" and this time, for whatever reason, the last call, he said "I Love you too".

What a shock to the eyes to see people alive that are now gone.

I'll post the video later. I haven't really decided what to do with it. I'll keep it on my Google account likely until I'm dead and gone. A rare video capture of her.

Special thanks and appreciation to my friend John in Winnipeg who managed to safely transfer the video (using very high quality equipment) to a high-bit rate video.

2002 was a long, long time ago. When he died in January 2002, we were in Nova Scotia for maybe not even a year. Marion let out an awful cry when she found out her son had past away. I remember consoling her and trying to ease her impossible pain.

She would request a death inquiry, but nothing would happen, due to his weight issue. I have his medical transcripts which will be thrown out soon. I have no need for them, really.

I think about them often.
