RIP: Synology DS218+
It was great when it worked. But when I shut it down, it never powered back up. The LED's just flash 3 times. The hardware is fucked. I ended up contacting Synology who agreed to cover it under warranty.
And then my ISP router was wedged under a piece of plastic wrap the other day. It became so hot the plastic deformed. I thought the router would certainly be dead after that, but it powered up an hour after I put it into the freezer. It was that hot.
I finally got around to taking down Theresa's shirts and gathering the last of her clothes. I donated it all to the women in need society. They help abused women who have nothing. Theresa would have liked that. I kept a few sentimental items, but what surprised me was I kept Marion's felt coat. It has a special meaning to me.
It will be a year next month. I can still hear her laughter, loud and clear. At least, in my mind.
In the white Moores bag is an old mink coat of Marion's from the 1980's. It has the initials "MCM" on her inside coat (Marion Caroline Molaison). When I pulled it out of the bag, it smelled of stale nicotine and smoke. It was one of those items we never used, but for Theresa, it was her mother's personal item. It had emotional attachment. Like the clothes I kept.
