Tinder Facts

 

* You'll see random men pop up in your card stream, even though you've specified Straight and your filter is women. I suspect it's men looking for men, but there's really no reason for this. Simply select bisexual or whatever of the 30+ genders you can pick from in Tinder

* Really bizarre people will pop up into your card stream at odd hours of the day - and from far distances. Most of these can be attributed to Tinder+, which allows users to jump from city to city. It's quite fun, actually. What's actually happening is Tinder+ and Tinder Gold users are activating their boost for 30 minutes. Kinda unnecessary

* Even if you receive likes, and you have Tinder+, you can't still view who liked you. You'll have to subscribe to Tinder Gold for that. Yeah. Fuck that. The little yellow number above is how many people liked you. I'm at 30, it's been 3 days and I have no fucking idea what to do

* People will drop from conversations or unmatch you randomly. Don't take it personally; they found a better match. Their loss.

* Endless choice will result in endless hunting; Truly this app needs a time limit, even for paying customers. I watched  a youtube video of a guy who was addicted to this application. And I found a prominent psychology website mentions that sites like Facebook and Tinder are optimized for the reward-hunt-search pattern. Very addictive. 

Users should be warned about the potential addiction factor of this app. It's no more useful than Bumble or Plenty of Fish. The problem with matching many women at once or even over a week: I know I cannot keep up a conversation going with potentially dozens of people?  If you can do this, please fill out a comment and let me know how you do it. 

I think to use this app effectively you must quickly determine if they are interested in meeting in person. Which is a problem when a global pandemic is going on. Enter the era of video chats. I haven't done these yet, but I imagine there will be some zoom or Skype calls in the future. 

Expect to be disappointed, and any person that chats with you is likely also talking to other people too. It does make meeting strangers easier; although it does miss out on the closer personal interactions. 

I will say it's really interesting to drop into Tokyo one night and then pop into Rome to see what's out there. I find Italian women incredibly beautiful. I wasn't disappointed. If anything, this app could open up new friendships with people around the world. Not everyone is looking for a hookup.
