Eye Contact

I always know when someone has taken interest in me. It usually begins with eye contact, subtle touches, and compliments. But this time, wow, the universe really played it's hand well. I never saw it coming, 

That bar scene from dumber and dumber, where he's absolutely clueless, sitting next to a pretty woman? He ignores her.  Or in Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, driving on the wrong side of the road. (Great movie btw). 

Eye Contact

It is the most intimate and honest form of communication between two people. In a short moment of time, every kind of emotion can be transmitted and received in real time. No filters. I'm sure everyone's looked into their parent's eyes when caught doing something wrong. These are deep connections direct to your soul.

You say hello. She looks to your eyes and holds on for a little longer than normal. You begin to doubt yourself. "No, it didn't just happen". I rewind the moment in my mind 20 times. I meet her again some time later, and even stronger eye contact. She says I have a nice shirt. I meet her gaze and never look away. She turns away after what seems to be an eternity. I am extremely hot but a cold sweat has appeared on my forehead. 

I could have used a kick to the head via Karate Kid. And now I remember. She had started to dress a little nicer lately. And she has appeared out of nowhere many times. 

She has been extremely polite to me lately. And I saw her smile once when I was near last week.  I thought to myself one morning. The signs were obvious. I just never paid close enough attention. Until that day.

Did you know, the more you try to avoid someone, the actual opposite happens? 

A day later, I meet her again and the eye contact is intense. Smoke must have been coming off my face mask, because her laser eyes were burning. We talked for several minutes, our eyes never looked away. If this was the star ship Enterprise, those red alert alarms are ringing loudly.

The very next day, however, erupted into something I will never forget. 

In comes another woman. But I sensed this was coming. Unfortunately, this isn't just any woman. This one is smart, and exceptionally sneaky. Someone that I known for years, had gotten along with extremely well, but I never advanced towards her. I was with Theresa, and I would never, ever cheat. Now, 18 months later, I've come out of the fog and I can see clearly now.
