A difficult post

Last Tuesday I suffered auditory hallucinations due to lack of sleep and my move into the apartment. It slowly built up until last Tuesday. I ended up running across traffic and running along the train tracks, eventually climbing the barbed wire fence and lacerating my right arm.

My cat was placed into care by the humaine society. I was discharged today after spending 3 days in the calgary south hospital and thursday-saturday in the Peter Lougheed unit 37, a short stay psychiatric unit.

I met alot of nice people there. Tatum, a young girl who gave me her army shirt. She was very kind.  I had no clothes. My jeans were ripped and i threw my t shirt out because i used it as a tourniquet to stop the blood loss on my arm. My wallet and phone were home. My eye glasses are somewhere on the railway tracks.

Trent, a nice guy my age who suffered alcoholism. We talked alot about our pasts. He was discharged yesterday. I met Lauren, another young woman, who suffered alcoholism too. She told me she was pulled over 2x for dui’s and was even in a police chase involving a helicopter.

My roommate was Chiraz, a quiet man who listened to music loops endlessly on his phone.

The food was so-so. You ate at 8, 12, and 5 pm. They provided apple snacks, sandwiches, and muffins at 8pm. The tv was on from 8 am to 10 pm.

We had movies. I spent my time doodling, filling out crossword puzzles and connect-a-dot. I discovered a cool minecraft puzzle book.

The nurses were kind and the doctors were excellent. The showers were horrible. You pressed a steel button and the water was ice cold. Bed time was 10 pm.

I spent time chatting with Tatum, she was about 22 and clearly having problems with addiction. I didnt judge her. I liked her a lot.

I still cant believe I fell so deep into the psychosis. It was scary. I have an action plan. When they asked why I climbed the fence, I said God commanded me to. I was serious.

Mental illness is real. I am back at home now, resting.
