In Pursuit of Power

I used to have a friend that spent thousands of dollars on computer equipment every year. New graphics cards, new hard drives, monitors, whatever - just to stay current. Sadly, its the same with cars and most people - including careers. If you were to ask yourself, "How much money is enough?" - most could not answer.

I'd be happy with 10,000 dollars in my savings account. But it'll take a while before I get there. I don't lunge after money or power anymore. That ended after Theresa past away. And to be honest, that pursuit got old quickly. You were never satisfied no matter what the outcome was.

People who lunge for power and glory are sad. They are never happy with what they have. "I just know those people make so much more money than I do, they must be happier.

Nope.

They are even more miserable. But yet, nobody listens and everyone is quick to grab for that golden hoop. Well guess what. Not everyone can handle the concept of power and self control.

It's the same with drugs and alcohol. Both are lethal yet sold legally. How is this so? For profit.

No one things about the repercussions about cannabis or Jack Daniels whiskey. But still, more people die from alcohol every year than ever before. And for what?

I hope to be content with what I have - always. Never grabbing or clutching after others things.

It's just not me.

Chris
