I've actually never hit a live animal with any vehicle yet...but this morning while driving up my street this huge seagull loped up to fly out of my way and I ended up nailing the poor bird with my car's front air dam.......he bounced off the car with a loud WHACK! and rolled into the grass. I looked at my rearview mirror and noticed he GOT UP. I decided to get some gasoline and head back down when I was done.
The bird wasn't anywhere to be found. I guess he was lucky and was only knocked around a bit. Seagulls are pretty big birds up close and I was surprised the little bastard got up after being hit by my car going 40 km/hour. Resiliant little scavangers they are!
They'll never go hungry either. Once, while getting off the Ferry I almost got hit in the head by a clam that had flown down past my head. Why? Because these intelligent little sea birds were snatching clams and dropping them from heights to extract the juicy clams as they smash on the ground. These birds will also eat grass and also sea weed that accumulates on rocks in the harbour. They will never starve. I think secretly, these birds eat better than I do.
