Old Man Car
Allow me to list all of the vehicles I have owned in my short life time.
1984 Chevy Custom Deluxe 6 Cyl. 3-spd. standard 1/2 ton.
1992 Ford F-150 XL V8 302 CUI 4spd automatic 1/2 ton
2000 Chevy Cavalier 2.2 L 4cyl. automatic 4-door sedan
2003 Chevy Cavalier 2.2 L 4cyl. automatic 4-door sedan
2007 Subaru Impreza 2.5L 4cyl. standard 4-door sedan AWD
2005 Nissan Altima 2.5L 4cyl. automatic, 4-speed 4-door mid-size sedan.
Not a whole lot of cars here. I went from my being 18 and driving a truck, to my mid-20's and early 30's driving a ford truck, ending up eventually with Cavaliers and then Subaru, finally to Nissan.
I've graduated to the middle age car. The old man car. The comfy car with not alot of speed but a whole lot of size. Maybe in a few years I should buy an old Porsche or BMW M3 for the mid-life crisis.
I spent about an hour wrestling the license plate onto the back of the car today. It seems the bolts on the plate had rusted shut. I had to use lock jaw pliers to loosen them. In the process of doing this I managed to rip down some of the trunk headliner. No problem, I'll just zip tie it later.
Since cleaning the car inside and changing the cabin air filter the vehicle is much more pleasant to drive. It isn't musty anymore. I have to check out the spark plugs this month and make sure they're still good. Lots of maintenance is planned for the summer. I want to switch the interior lighting to red, as the orange is kind of bright. I was going to switch to blue, but a friend at work told me blue will kill your night driving vision. I have a few hundred LED's, so I'm going to have some fun and begin putting LED lighting in the car. Should be good.
The first project I'll do is changing over the high-mounted stop lamp to true bright red LED's. After that I'll be changing out the rear tail lights and installing some custom LED tails which I will hand-build. Don't worry, I won't add any ludicrous white LED's to the front headlamps. Those are just crap.
I might be putting some headers into the car this year if my pre-catalytic converter fails. I'm hoping it won't. The headers will cost about $400 plus installation. I'm not kidding myself. This car will never be fast nor will I ever expect it to be.
