I took the camera back to the place I purchased it. There is dust on the sensor (not much, but 2 spots I can immediately see). It will be sent to Ontario for warranty work. I'll have to either learn to clean this camera myself or switch to a dust-sealed unit (which does not yet exist).

I found this interesting link which shows how to do it. I won't yet because it would void my warranty.
