Boosted Board XR Review

Not my actual board. My board looks blackened, dirty, and very loud.
Where to begin? The board is officially 1 year old and I've put over 2,000 kilometers on the thing since I bought it last April 2017. The boosted board has been in the shop 2x - both times for motors. Since I've had the board I've replaced lots of belts, the guards were replaced by boosted a few weeks ago - along with front and rear truck attachments.

The board is loud, well, much louder than it used to be. It looks nothing like the brand new boosted board, blackened wheels and covered with road dust and ample amounts of GRIZZY grip tape (which isn't as great as the original boosted grips).

Speed wise, the board is insane, still capable of hitting 22 mph. I always ride in pro mode, there's no excuse for less power. I never heard of anyone complaining about driving a car with too much power. The same goes for boosted boards.

Riding the board with the Extended battery pack, you get a very long, long ride. I kept going far, far beyond what a normal ride would take me today. My back leg was getting sore from holding the weight, I wasn't used to these long rides. If you rode this board on a flat surface, I would easily be able to boost to work on this thing. I don't think I'll attempt this until Friday, because tomorow there will be rain. Friday is calling for 30% chance of showers. I'll take my chance.

Its not a convetional skateboard by any means. The machine is truly a personal vehicle, capable of taking you quickly from one spot in the city to another in relative comfort. Is it better than a bike? No, but I'll never have to worry about my board being stolen because I never leave it alone outside. Ever. Everything is pretty much stock except for the replacement grip tape.

If there is one thing I routinely stress about riding these machines is use safety equipment ALWAYS. You might be an expert skateboard rider but you can't predict what other people do. Cars, bicycles, etc. are always a threat to you. I don't think I would buy another board because I am the only person who uses it. The board is inherently dangerous but so is driving and taking a plane trip. You will not be able to take the board on an airplane because the extended battery is way, way over the 100 watt-hour size limit. This one's 260 watt-hours.

People online have complained about the Extended Battery not charging right after long rides - and I don't doubt them. I haven't experienced that, as mine charged right away after getting it down to 6% charge. The recharge did take 2 hours though - compared to the 99WH battery which is 60 minutes.

My knee is sufficiently recovered now and I am no longer in pain - I think because instead of walking I've been using the board to get around the city. I still would like to join a gym, but we'll see how much monthly drop-ins cost at the YMCA. I don't have the willpower to join a regular gym. That and terminating a contract requires the will of steel.

Boost on.
