Facebook Dating: Just another data mining expedition by Zuckerberg
During Facebook's F8 conference a little while ago, Mark Zuckerberg announced that Facebook would be launching a dating platform. Wonderful! Just when you though Facebook couldn't get creepy enough, it now wants to know your deepest, most intimate details of your life. And hey! Mark will gleefully sell your personal information to 3rd party advertisers for god knows what purpose.
But before we dig down into the fallacy of Facebook and that social media walled garden, why don't we discuss the topic of truth: How online dating is a complete lie.
Online Dating is Bullshit
The idea of meeting someone online never really appealed to me. I have a good friend of mine who signed up for a few dating sites and he's had maybe 2 waste-of-time dates out of dozens and hundreds of unanswered messages or connects. What most dating web sites won't tell you, is some of those attractive people you see on the front page are likely ex-members or stock photos of people.
All online dating has done is make it easier to be catfished. There's a special place in hell for those motherfuckers. Especially if you're communicating with an attractive, fit woman and when you meet in person its' a 400 pound whale.
I honestly have no idea what the hell I woud do if I had to search for another partner in today's age. Knowing my luck I'd meet a sweet girl who ends up roofying me and I wake up duct taped and naked in a hotel room. Because we all know how great it is for total strangers to have the ability to creep your online profile out and learn things about you. Everything.
Good times.
