Skateboarding to and from work is a ludicrous idea

The above person is a complete posing idiot and not me. I wear a helmet, pads, and wrist guards so I dont break my goddamn arms. But skateboarding from my apartment to downtown Calgary wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.

Sure, the sidewalks were challenging, but the road was mostly downhill, and it was shocking that my extended battery boosted board only used 40% of the charge. The air was cool and it was a very pleasant ride into work.

However

In the roasting early evening, going on an electric skateboard on semi-packed sidewalks and in +36 C heat is utterly the worst. Sweaty, the belt was slipping as I was going uphill. I almost wiped out crossing an open section of road with tiny hills and dips. I clenched and rode it out, getting low and extending my arms to stablize. It worked.

Dodging cars, errant cyclists, feeble old people and feral children never stopped me from getting home. By the time I managed to skate without murdering myself, I was hot, sweaty, and exhausted.

Air conditioning in a car with CBC beats riding a skateboard in +36C heat. But I'd rather be sweating in this weather than crying about -30C winters.
