So Long Boosted Board
I purchased my boosted board last April and put about 2,300 kilometers on the thing. After my recent accident on July 11 where I broke my tib and fib bones of my right leg, I decided to hang up my gloves and give up electric skateboarding.
I put an ad up on Kijiji for $475 and immediately got a dozen people harassing me. One guy stuck out: Matt, from Edmonton, had a V1 boosted board and his died. Boosted wanted $400 to repair the board, but saw my ad and decided to drive down to get mine.
I held the board for him, even though I had a competing bid for $700. It wasn't about the money. I felt the need to stick up for a fellow rider and wanted him to enjoy it as much as I did. I don't regret selling it. I gave him my 2 helmets, 2 sets of gloves, knee and elbow guards.
Matt didn't have any safety gear so I made him promise me he would. When I told him my story he got a bit scared. I just said watch where you ride, and always wear your gear. Since he's 20 years younger than me, I think he'll do just fine.
The board is out of warranty but still runs strong. I'm deciding what to do for a hobby now, and with my upcoming vacation time, I'm thinking about a few things.
Having this accident made me appreciate how much we take for granted our walking and mobility.
Good luck Matt. I hope you enjoy that board.
