Nothing stays the same
20 years ago I used to joke that The Ranchmans was a bar for old people to get laid. Well, 20 years later I'm in that age group I made fun of: The 50+ group.Who's laughing now? I remember taking Theresa to the 'Ranch back in 1999. They had pretty good steak sandwich & a beer for $10.
And now, many months after COVID-19 ravaged and decimated the retail and bar industry, the iconic country bar is up for lease.I often wondered how long that business could hold out before going bankrupt.
So I checked it out. For 17,000 square feet at 18.50$ per square foot, that's over $300K to get into this lease. With bars closed it would take someone with very deep pockets to invest in this one.
I took Theresa to this bar once or twice in 2012; but it was kinda on the decline years ago. Inside the bar is dated, has lots of ancient things hanging from the ceiling.
Even the Dartmouth Bar The Rodeo lounge is closed. It was sold and re-named "Bootz" for a few years, then closed again. The Rodeo was a trashier version of The Rachman's, same older clientele and mix of young. I remember my wife being banned from that bar for a few weeks, because she got into the owner's face. She wouldn't back down to anyone.
The owner was shot to death a 10+ years ago over a drug debt or something.
