Ronin SC2 + RavenEye

I wanted a 3-axis gimbal for my Gopro Hero 8 and Ricoh GR2 camera. They didn't have anything decent at London Drugs, so I risked it and went with a Chinese-made Feiyu A2000c 3-axis gimbal. It cost me $300 Canadian, a decent price for what you get.

It lasted 4 days before it literally died when I wanted to use it on my lunch hour. I started to film walking videos in Calgary, and I needed the smooth shot to keep the video moving. In the morning, I demo'd the Gimbal to a co-worker and powered it off. It never was able to power on after that, in spite of the battery being at 80%.

I went back to London Drugs and packed the shit back into the box with my receipt. This time, I was determined to buy quality. And so I purchased an obscenely expensive Gimbal Pro package, the Ronin SC2 Kit. It comes with a variety of attachments and has the legendary stabilization that comes with this bad boy. It cost $750 Canadian dollars plus tax.

My Youtube channel is slow, but with this tool I'll be able to steady almost any shot. The RavenEye will allow me to broadcast video to any smartphone, which is like having a 2nd monitor. It's really made to support mirrorless cameras and NOT the heavy DSLR's.

Since I only have the Ricoh GR2 and GoPro Hero8 Black, no problem. I should get this kit on Friday, and I'll do a short video review of this crazy advanced gimbal.

I'm excited to try the new pan modes and test out the different hand positions this one has to offer. I've learned how to use Davinci Resolve 17, and how to edit videos. I don't bother to color correct yet, I'm just not that advanced of a user.

Apparently this gimbal is used by many professionals who don't need the larger Ronin S2, which can carry the heavier 6 pound cameras.

The larger monitors at home make editing easier, I can view the entire timeline easily and check the color on my Dell 32.

I will likely invest in a mirrorless camera next year. I plan on using the GoPro for 4K 60, and the Ricoh for 1080p 30. The file sizes are fucking massive. A 30 minute 4K60 MP4 is 100 GB in size.

I had to upgrade my internet to 750/20 to speed up the insane upload times. I hope to get my new modem this week.

Since I stopped using Cannabis since mid-February, my creativity has gone through the roof. I'll likely have a toke on April 1st, but I have no plans on using like the way I did before.

Hopefully I can grow my Youtube channel, and provide some interesting videos for people to watch.
