A Calm Mind is Never Disturbed by Outside Forces
“The things you think about determine the quality of your mind,” stoic philosopher and Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius (121-180 AD) wrote in Meditations. “Your soul takes on the color of your thoughts.”
He wrote some astounding things, 2,000 years ago:
“External things are not the problem. It’s your assessment of them. Which you can erase right now. If the problem is something in your own character, who’s stopping you from setting your mind straight? And if it’s that you’re not doing something you think you should be, why not just do it? – But there are insuperable obstacles. Then it’s not a problem. The cause of your inaction lies outside you. – But how can I go on living with that undone? Then depart, with a good conscious, as if you’d done it, embracing the obstacles too.”
And then:
“Discard your misperceptions. Stop being jerked like a puppet. Limit yourself to the present. Understand what happens – to you, to others. Analyze what exists, break it all down: material and cause. Anticipate your final hours. Other people’s mistakes? Leave them to their makers.”
Stop being a puppet. Do not let others influence your thoughts. What is happening is some people can use you for their own amusement. They rejoice in telling you secrets or things you really don't want or care about to know. You can't control other people, but you can control how you react and your own inner thoughts.
Imagine a towering wall, so large, you can't see the top of it. It surrounds your house, making it impossible for anyone to even put a tiny crack into the wall. It's impenetrable, impossible to climb, and immobile.
This is your will power, and your inner mind. Each day this wall gets stronger and higher. This is necessary because when people see you refuse to react or go along with their antics, they will only change tactics. But you are ready. This wall is higher than the Northern wall in Game of Thrones.
It will not matter. You are unbeatable. Indominable. Unshakeable.
