That Lie Called Online Dating

That day I installed Tinder on my phone, I'll never forget it. Suddenly I had annoying notifications, emails, and pop-ups from this stupid application. My life before was eerily quiet.  With the app I had liars, scammers, and outright crazy people is what I encountered. People who are 10+ years older than they claim. My action plan then was to turn off the notifications, and not run the application when out and about. It was too distracting and addictive.

Ugh.

I've sworn off all online dating applications. Tinder, Plenty of Fish, Bumble, etc.. -- all gone. I felt hollowed out when I used that platform. I wasted over $1,000 on this garbage via subscriptions. Is this person real? What do they want? Are they nice?

All genuine concerns.

The real sinister part of online dating is how addictive they are. It's simply another slice of social media, like Facebook.

In fact, I found Twitter more addictive than Tinder. The very fact you get instant notifications on tweets should alarm you. I don't give a fuck if someone liked my tweet. This reward-dopamine cycle is insidious.

My advice is to stay away from online dating.

It's useless.

It dangles intimacy but provides nothing.

Chris
