Good-bye Job
Just yesterday, near 5PM, I was let go from my job. And to be honest, it wasn't an easy thing to go through. And yet, I handled it with grace and dignity. Truth be told, I was hired to be a wizard at networking, project management, procurement, and customer support. I wasn't. And although I was usually the first to show up at the office, no one really trained me beyond basics of ticketing.
When you're asked to deconstruct a Sonicwall firewall (in production no less) and then said to 'Configure this Fortigate in High Availability and make it work like the SonicWall" is an impossible work load.
And yet, I did complete a Dropbox to SharePoint migration using the SharePoint migration tool, and many hours on the phone - it wasn't enough. Sadly, this was a demonstration of poor execution of training, management, and focus.
My last day I opened the office at 7:55 AM. I left jobless at 5:10 PM, after listening to a younger man lecture to me about business structure and corporate 'fit'. Well let me tell you, that organization is going to need a Christmas miracle to survive 2023.
Good luck.
I'm job searching tomorrow.
Chris
